Remind Sign Up

This year, Hillside Middle School will be adding Remind to the many methods of communication between school and students/families.  Information will be shared out, such as spirit days, upcoming events, and other items that need to be shared within our school community.  The hope is all students and parents join the appropriate Remind class.  This is a free app or email that you will sign up to join the class your child is in and you will receive messages from school either on text or email.  Please see the directions below on how to sign up for this feature.  You do not need the app to join the class and receive the messages.

You can join a class to receive Remind messages via text, email, or push notification (or any combination of these).

  1. To get text notifications:
    • Join by text:
Participants text a unique class code to a Remind phone number. The Remind number is 81010 and the class codes are below. For example, if you wanted to join the 8th grade class, you would text @hmshawks18 to 81010.
    • Join online:
Visit remind.com/join and enter the class code along with your mobile phone number. You'll get text notifications at the number you entered.
  2. Get mobile app notifications.
Download the mobile app for iOS and Android devices and create a new account (or log in if you already have one.) To join a class, tap the by Classes Joined and either join with your class code or search for your class. You'll automatically get app notifications.
  3. Get email notifications.
    • Join online:
Visit remind.com/join and enter the class code and your email address.
    • Join from your inbox:
Send a blank email to code@mail.remind.com. The email address for the class is listed below. Once you complete this, you will get a response with more instructions.

Each class has its own class name and address:

8th grade class name is HMSHawks18.  The code is @hmshawks18

7th grade class name is HMSHawks19.  The code is @hmshawks19

6th grade class name is HMSHawks20.  The code is @hmshawks20

For email:

A California Gold Ribbon School

On Tuesday, April 18th, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson named Hillside Middle School, AKA Hillside STEAM Academy, a California Gold Ribbon School!  This high achievement is recognition by the state that Hillside has created an amazing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) focused curriculum that impacts all students.  Our 8 Pathways, high test scores, Portfolio, innovative bell schedule, dynamic and involved students and parents, and most of all, a highly professional and dedicated staff, are not just our bragging points, but are now a state recognized model program.

Thank you to the entire Hillside and Simi Valley community for helping make Hillside a California Gold Ribbon School.

General Information

Monday Message and other important information:

Message from the principal:

I want to take the time to thank all the staff, students, and parents for a very successful beginning of the school year. Hawk Prep Days was a huge success. Hillside’s students received textbooks, class schedules, and school supplies before they stepped on campus for the first days of school. During the initial week of school, teachers presented school rules, took 6th graders on tours of the campus, and introduced classroom management schedules to the students. Students are prepared and excited to learn.
